Remapping
ECU remapping & tuning in Exeter
A Stage 1 map rewritten for your engine: more torque where you actually drive, sharper throttle, and the same car to live with. Put your registration in and see what yours is likely to make.
What it costs
Stage 1 remap
£200
Read, rewrite and write back through the diagnostic port. Most cars are in and out the same day.
Book the remapBench remap
£250
Where the ECU is locked or has to come out to be read, we do it on the bench. Same map, more labour.
Book the remapA remap is a modification: tell your insurer before you drive it, and keep your service intervals as they are. A map doesn't fix a fault either — if the engine has one, that gets sorted first.
The Remap Estimator
Registration in. Likely power and torque out.
DPF removal — off-road & track only
For competition and off-road vehicles we can remove the DPF and map around it. Priced once we've seen the vehicle.
Road use: no
Removing a DPF from a vehicle used on a public road is an offence under the Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986 and an automatic MOT failure. We only do this on vehicles used exclusively off-road or in motorsport, and we will not fit it to a road-registered car you intend to keep driving on the road.

Common questions
- Do I have to tell my insurer?
- Yes. A remap is a modification, and not declaring it can invalidate your policy. Most insurers take it on the phone in a couple of minutes.
- Is remapping legal?
- Remapping itself is legal, as long as the car still meets the emissions standard it was type-approved to. Removing emissions equipment — a DPF or an EGR — is not, and we only do that on vehicles used exclusively off-road or in motorsport.
- How much will my car actually gain?
- It depends on the engine, and anyone who quotes you an exact figure off a registration is guessing. The estimator on this page gives the typical range for your engine class; the real numbers come off your car's own file, and we show you them before anything is written.
- Will it use more fuel?
- Driven the same way, usually a little less, because there's more torque low down and you change gear less. Driven with your foot down to enjoy it, more. It's your right foot either way.
- How long does it take?
- Allow a couple of hours through the diagnostic port and most of a day if the ECU has to come out for a bench read.
